Document Requirements

What you'll need before registering and before starting an application — gather these in advance so you can complete the process in one sitting.

Step 1 — Creating your profile

Required when you first register. Documents must be PDF, JPG, or PNG. You can also register in person at a GGMC office, where staff will set up and link your profile for you.

✓Valid Identification — Passport, National ID Card, or Driver’s License
✓Proof of Address — Utility bill or official document from the last 6 months
✓TIN Certificate — Tax Identification Number Certificate from GRA

Step 2 — Applying for a permit or licence

Each permit type needs additional documents. Your identification, proof of address, and TIN certificate are already verified at registration and are not requested again.

Medium Scale (150 – 1,200 acres · Guyanese only)

Prospecting Permit (Medium Scale)(GGMC Form 5A)

Mining Permit (Medium Scale)(GGMC Form 5F)

Special Mining Permit

Large Scale (500 – 12,800 acres)

Prospecting Licence (Large Scale)(GGMC Form 5E)

✓Work Program — Detailed work program for the geological/geophysical surveys
✓Project Budget — Detailed budget for the prospecting/survey activities including projected expenditures
✓Proof of Financial Capabilities — Bank statements, financial records, or funding commitments
✓Proof of Technical Capabilities — Technical qualifications, experience records, or expert CVs

Mining Licence (Large Scale)(GGMC Form 5E)

✓Map with Cartographic Description — Coordinate-referenced map of the application area
✓Feasibility Study — Technical and economic feasibility study for the mining operation
○Mine/Operations Plan — Detailed plan for mining operations (optional at application, required before permit issuance) (needed before issuance, not at application)
✓Proof of Financial Capabilities — Bank statements, financial records, or funding commitments
✓Proof of Technical Capabilities — Technical qualifications, experience records, or expert CVs
○EPA Environmental Permit — Environmental Permit from the Environmental Protection Agency (optional at application, required before permit issuance) (needed before issuance, not at application)

Quarry Licence

✓Map with Cartographic Description — Coordinate-referenced map of the application area
✓Proof of Financial Capabilities — Bank statements, financial records, or funding commitments
✓Proof of Technical Capabilities — Technical qualifications, experience records, or expert CVs
✓Quarry/Mine Plan — Detailed plan for quarry operations including extraction methods, rehabilitation, and environmental management
○EPA Environmental Permit — Environmental Permit from the Environmental Protection Agency (optional at application, required before permit issuance) (needed before issuance, not at application)

Permission for Geological and Geophysical Surveys

✓Map with Cartographic Description — Coordinate-referenced map of the application area
✓Cover Letter — Formal cover letter for the PGGS application
✓Work Program — Detailed work program for the geological/geophysical surveys
✓Proof of Financial Capabilities — Bank statements, financial records, or funding commitments
✓Proof of Technical Capabilities — Technical qualifications, experience records, or expert CVs
✓Fee Structure and Terms — Fee structure and other terms and conditions for the survey
○Closed Area Committee (CAC) Letter — CAC approval letter or alternative authorization (if applicable - only required if area is within a Closed Area)
✓Archival Geological Data — Existing geological data, reports, or maps for the survey area
